MiFID consultants are in the money
MiFID is creating lucrative opportunities for contract consultants.
Consultants with MiFID experience can earn 1,000 a day, the Financial Times reports, quoting Chris Beer, managing director of regulatory advisory company Resources Global Professional. Beer reportedly says salaried staff specializing in MiFID can earn six figure packages.
A recruiter working on MiFID related roles tells eFinancialCareers that pay for MiFID specialists is increasingly generous. "If you have eight or more years' experience consulting in the financial services market and you know about MiFID, 1,000 a day is eminently achievable," he says. "As the deadline approaches, it's likely that will go up to 1,500 or more."
The European Union's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) is set to be implemented in November 2007.
Most of the contractors working on MiFID projects have management consulting experience at the Big Four accountancy firms, or places like Accenture, says the recruiter.
