LME opens late to solicit Asian business
The London Metal Exchange is opening for electronic trading six hours earlier from today in response to both the growing importance from Asian business and the rising competition between commodity exchanges.
The London Metals Exchange announced that the new trading times will be from 0100hrs London time to 1900hrs.
Vicky Meadows-Smith of Commodities Appointments deals directly with hiring for the London Metal Exchange, and says the London Metal Exchange is extending the opening hours of LME Select, an electronic system that will now be accessible to the Asian markets.
Meadows-Smith says "There may well be new hires because the market is very buoyant but not directly because of this development. There is a lot of activity within the member companies of the Exchange, and in a buoyant market there is always demand for good people."
