Chief exec says exams will help attract staff
Is the opportunity to take professional exams a strong incentive to work for a company? BNP Paribas Securities Services seems to think so.
The custody arm of the French Bank has signed up as the first corporate member of the Securities and Investment Institute (SII), a privilege conferring a commitment to encourage its employees to pursue the likes of the Investment Administration Qualification, the Certificate in Investment Management, and the Advanced Certificate in Operational Risk.
"SII membership provides our employees with excellent resources to help them develop their expertise in the field of securities investment and administration - as well as recognition of their
achievements," says Tony Solway, head of BNP Paribas Securities Services. "We also believe it will help us recruit and retain the best, adding up to a 'win-win-win' for our people, our clients and our shareholders."
In March this year the Financial Services Authority removed the need for people dealing only with wholesale customers to pass specific exams. The SII was opposed to the move, but a spokeswoman for the Institute said there has been no reduction in the number of people taking exams since.
