Finance award goes to EBS MSc student
eFinancialCareers.com Sales Director Iain Small presented Mr Freedman with a cheque at the ceremony, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Freedman won the prize for outstanding academic achievement in his MSc course, which covered modules in financial markets, management of financial institutions, private equity and venture capital, corporate strategy, corporate finance and business in its linguistic and cultural environment.
Freedman's dissertation, on Basel II and the consistency of credit rating agencies (CRAs), was of a particularly high standard. Freedman examined whether some CRAs (usually smaller, lesser known ones) systematically assign higher ratings than other agencies such as Standard & Poor's and Moody's.
Now two months into the Royal Bank of Scotland's financial markets graduate programme, part of a combined CBFM (corporate banking & financial markets) scheme, Freedman said he is enjoying himself tremendously, "although I'm finding it difficult to find the time to do any revision for our exams!"
"I am still narrowing down which area I wish to end up in, but have strong preferences for a client-facing role in something non-plain vanilla, like structured solutions within the rates division of RBS financial markets," said Freedman.
"Simon has displayed great commitment this year, and I'm sure he'll be a great asset to RBS CBFM," said eFinancialCareers' Small. "As the leading online recruitment brand in financial markets, we are delighted to sponsor this award which reflects not only our core business but also cements our long-standing relationship with the European Business School - London."
