Job wrap: Hiring surge in equity derivatives

There was a rush of equity derivatives hiring last week as Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Bank of America and ABN Amro added to their teams.

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein hired four people for equity derivatives. Patrick Sciamma joined from Goldman Sachs as a managing director and head of trading in exotic equity derivatives. Olivier Charhon joined from IXIS Corporate & Investment Bank as head of index exotics trading. Tayeb Amegroud joined from Lehman Brothers as head of equity derivatives structuring. Sebastien Bossu joined JP as an equity derivatives structurer.

Bank of America hired eight bankers for its European equity derivatives business; four came from JP Morgan. Emmanuel Slezack joins from JP Morgan as head of European equity derivative index trading; Arthur De Charnace also joins as an index trader from JP Morgan. Yann Le Garrec joins from JP Morgan as head of marketing for corporate equity derivatives and equity products for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Geraldine Bartoli joins from JP Morgan as a principal marketing equity derivatives to Northern European corporate client. Alessandro China joins from Goldman Sachs as a principal marketing equity derivative products to corporate clients in the south of Europe. Patrick Sommer Martin Lehmann, and Dirk Grunert join from BNP Paribas. Sommer is head of EMEA equity derivatives marketing; Lehmann is focusing on marketing equity derivatives to investors in Europe. Grunert joins as an associate focused on marketing equity derivatives.

ABN Amro hired two senior equity derivatives traders. Nicholas Fuller joined from Goldman Sachs; Paul Lewis joined from Citigroup.

Morgan Stanley shake-up

Morgan Stanley rearranged its European management following John Mack's accession to the position of chairman and chief executive in June. Franck Petitgas and Hans Schuttler are to replace Michael Uva, co-head of global investment banking. Petitgas is currently co-head of capital markets; Schuttler is country head for Germany.

Tommaso Albanese and John Hyman become co-heads of global capital markets in Europe. Albanese is head of investment grade debt and derivatives in Europe as well as global head of the corporate derivatives group. Hyman is head of European equity capital markets.

Fixed income: CSFB hires two for securitized debt research

CSFB made two hires for its securitized debt research team. Asim Qureshi joined from Morgan Stanley as a vice president; Tim Francis joined from Jones Lang LaSalle as an associate.

BNP Paribas hired two bankers to its foreign exchange and structured credit teams. Damian Saunders joins from Commerzbank as a senior syndicate manager; Kai Buhofer joins as a senior foreign exchange sales person covering Germany and Austria within the European corporate group.

Corporate banking: RBS hires six for loan origination

Royal Bank of Scotland hired six people for its structured loan origination team. Three joined the finance, aviation and shipping loan team, including: Andrew Powderly, who joins as a director from KBC; Tom Perry, who joins as a director from RBS shipping; and Zvi Wohlegemuth, who joins as an associate from HSBC. Separately, Ab Shome joined from Societe Generale as an associate director in the structured property finance loan origination business; Susan Leuchars joined from JP Morgan as a director in the leveraged loan origination business; Nina Selden joined the leveraged team as an analyst.

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein hired Jerome Frize from ABN Amro as a director in its French financial institutions group.

Fund management: Insight hires new head of institutional business

Insight Investment hired Sarah Aitken from Merrill Lynch Investment Management to lead its institutional business. Aitken was head of institutional relationship management at MLIM.

State Street Global Advisors hired Yacine Bechikh, a quant strategists from BNP Paribas, as a senior hedge fund manager in its hedge fund strategies team.

Investment consultancy Watson Wyatt hired Motlatsi Mutlanyane from corporate finance advisory boutique Legend Capital, to its investment strategy team.

Optimal Investment Services, a Spanish fund of hedge funds, hired Amit Popat from Northern Trust Global Investments as senior vice president responsible for its investment business in the UK, Ireland and northern Europe.

Aspect Capital, a UK-based hedge fund, hired John Wareham from AIG Financial Products, as head of distribution with responsibility for sales, marketing and client services.

Jupiter Asset Management hired Charlie Crole from Schroders as institutional client director.

Thames River Capital, a London hedge fund manager, hired three new staff. Mehrdad Noorani joined from UFJ International as an investment manager; George Gay joined from Morgan Pepper as a fund manager; Ben Joseph joins from Ernst & Young as an analyst.

Ivy Asset Management, a US-based hedge fund, hired Stuart Davies from International Asset Management as managing director in its London office .

Dexia Investment Management, the Benelux-based fund manager, hired seven new investment analysts to target socially responsible investing.

Wellington Management Company hired Paul Skinner, head of fixed income business development at Gartmore.

Private equity: Troup exits Permira

Charlie Troup, a partner at Permira in London, is leaving the private equity fund at the end of December.
