Job Wrap: Bank of America Hires Head of Capital Markets

Bank of America boosted its capital markets business last week. William H. White joined the bank from Credit Suisse First Boston as managing director and global head of capital markets based in New York. At CSFB White was head of global market solutions.

Fixed income: Citigroup loses traders to hedge fund

Three top fixed income traders are leaving Citigroup to set up a hedge fund. They are Brian Riano, head of global credit trading, John Eckerson, head of high yield trading, and Sean Fahey, an emerging markets debt trader. James Higgins, Citigroup's London head of European credit trading and David Pilcher, the bank's New-York based head of investment-grade bond trading, will replace Riano.

RBS Greenwich Capital made two hires from JPMorgan Securities to its financial institutions group. Steve Rehm joins as managing director and head of North American financial institutions relationship management. Brad Davis joins as a managing director.

Guggenheim Capital Markets, a broker dealer specializing in institutional fixed income products, hired Andrew Kurtz of Spectrum Group Management to build its leveraged finance group. Kurtz joins as managing director.

Equities: SG CIB hires for program trading

SG Corporate & Investment Banking hired Michael Brocking from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein as a director and senior program sales trader in its global program trading desk in New York.

Harris Nesbitt hired William Schreier as managing director of its equity capital markets group in New York. Schreier joins from CIBC World Markets, where he was a senior managing director in the New York equity capital markets group.

Investment banking: Bear Stearns hires from Citigroup

Bear Stearns & Co. hired David W. Levy from Citigroup as a senior managing director in its financial institutions group. Levy was a managing director and head of the bank and financial services group at Citigroup Global Markets.

ThinkEquity Partners made two appointments to its new communications and wireless investment banking team. John Cunney joins from HSBC Securities as a principal based in New York. Jeff Lipton joins as a principal based in San Francisco from Shire Capital Management.

Asset Management: Sawers quits CSAM; Bailey Coates prunes in US

Greg Sawers resigned as global co-head of equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management. Mark Burgess, Sawers' co-head, will assume sole responsibility for all equity and balanced funds.

Bailey Coates, a London-based hedge fund, denied rumors that it had closed and made all its London staff redundant. It told Reuters its U.S. staff had been given the chop, however.

Public finance: BNP Paribas hires Sakai

BNP Paribas hired Robert Sakai from Banc of America Securities as a director within its San Francisco public finance team.
