Schroders hires six for emerging markets team

Schroders, the UK fund manager, has hired six new staff for its global emerging markets equities team after six others left the company.

The moves are part of an overhaul by Allan Conway, who joined as head of global emerging equity markets from WestLB last October.

Conway has hired Waj Hashmi and Rupert Rucker from WestLB. Hashmi will be a global emerging markets manager and Rucker will be emerging market equities product manager.

Liesbeth Rubinstein joins from JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management as head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Claudio Brocado joins as head of Latin America from Fidelity Investments, while Braam Hanekom joins from Credo Capitla as emerging markets strategist and economist.

Jasper Crone joins Schroders as an analyst from F&C Asset Management.

Schroders last year lost both Leila Kardouche, a director responsible for emerging European market funds, and Pavel Kolouch, a senior analyst, to RAB Capital, the hedge fund manager.

Four other more junior members of the team have also left.

Schroders has a total of 27 emerging market investment staff, including 13 in the Asia investment team.

The team currently manages about $4bn (€3bn) across global emerging markets, Latin American and emerging Europe.
