US jobs roundup: CSFB reshuffles again
CSFB has reorganised its leveraged debt finance management team for the third time in just over a year. Tripp Smith, formerly global co-head of leveraged debt, will join the alternative capital division with responsibilty for capital markets. This leaves Doug Ostrover exclusively in charge of leveraged debt.
Ostrover in turn has appointed Don Pollard in New York, along with Jim Amine in Europe, to act as co-heads of leveraged finance.
In other moves in the past week, David Spina stepped down as chief executive of State Street following health problems. He will be replaced by Ron Logue, the chief operating officer. Logue had been responsible for integrating the Deutsche Bank global securities business that State Street purchased last year.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) appointed Charles Fishkin, formerly vice president of firm-wide risk at Fidelity Investments, to head up a new risk assessment office. The office will focus on helping the SEC anticipate problems in the mutual fund field.
UBS Investment Bank appointed Robert Wolf as chief operating officer and second in command to chief executive John Costas. Wolf was previously the global head of fixed income. UBS has not had a deputy chief of investment banking since December 2001 when Costas was promoted from that role to chief executive.
Janus Capital Group named Jason Yee as portfolio manager of its Janus Worldwide Fund. Yee will succeed Laurence Chang.
Piper Jaffray hired Roderick O'Neill as a managing director in its health care investment banking group. O'Neill was previously an executive director at UBS.
Wachovia Corporation announced new leadership for its risk management and wealth management divisions following its merger with SouthTrust Corporation. Stan Kelly will head wealth management while Don Truslow will head risk management.
Wachovia also hired J.M. Cunniff as a new business development officer for structured finance trust services. Cunniff will be based in the Boston office for Wachovia Corporate and Institutional Trust.
Craig Miller was hired by Southwest Securities to manage the firm's private client group office in Houston. Miller was previously manager of the UBS PaineWebber office in Colorado Springs.
