US jobs roundup: CSFB may look for dealmakers
Senior sources at CSFB say the bank may be planning to hire more dealmakers under Brady Dougan, whose appointment as chief executive was announced last week together with the surprise departure of John Mack. Mack had been in the job for three years.
Other banks were hiring at director level in the past week. Barclays Capital appointed Jennifer Harris, previously of Morgan Stanley, as a director in the communications and entertainment group. Harris will be responsible for relationships with the US media and publishing industries.
UBS hired Wallace Henderson, previously of CSFB, as a managing director heading the energy investment banking team. Henderson will join UBS in July.
Merrill Lynch appointed Nick Crawford as managing director and co-head of global foreign exchange trading. Crawford was previously a director and senior trader for foreign exchange at Morgan Stanley.
Deutsche Bank hired Gary Jenkins and Jim Reid as European head of credit research and European credit strategist, respectively. Reid and Jenkins were both former prominent credit team members at Barclays Capital.
Smaller firms were also hiring. StoneHedge hired Peter Goldman to boost the hedge fund's sales among registered investment advisers. Greenhill & Co., an investment bank, hired H.C. Bowen Smith as a senior advisor. Smith was previously with UBS.
Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., an investment bank focused on the US and Latin American market, promoted Lawrence Goldman to managing director of capital markets and Steven Willis to managing director of investment banking. Daniel Landon became managing director of equity sales and trading, while Jay Garcia was promoted to managing director of global research.
Robert Sullivan joined Petroleum & Resources Corporation as an energy analyst. Previously Sullivan was a senior equity analyst with UBS in New York. Northland Securities also expanded its equity research department with the hire of Steve Denault as senior equity analyst.
