US jobs roundup: Banks reshuffle at the top

The New York Stock Exchange has hired Michael Ferraro, formerly of Lehman Brothers, to a newly created post of senior vice-president, controller, corporate finance. Ferraro will report to Amy Butte, the NYSE's recently hired chief financial officer.

Other moves in the past week include Lehman Brothers' appointment of Joseph Gregory as president and sole chief operating officer. Bradley Jack was named to the Office of the Chairman with responsibility for investment banking relationships. Lehman also hired Janet Hanson, founder and chief executive of the Wall Street firm Milestone Capital Management, as a managing director.

Eugene McQuade, president of Bank of America, announced his resignation effective on June 30th. The bank said the units for which McQuade was responsible will be realigned to report to existing senior managers. Tom Berkery, formerly of PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be hired to the bank as the new chief operating officer of global corporate and investment banking.

HSBC hired a further six securitisation bankers in New York, less than a fortnight after pledging to become a top five player in the sector. They include Robert DiOrio, who joins from CDC Ixis Capital Markets North America and becomes a managing director and head of real estate securitisation for the Americas and Alice Koo, formerly with Citigroup Asset Management, who becomes a senior vice-president and head of ABS product management for the same region.

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein hired Surat Maheshwari from the World Bank to spearhead a drive into the US private placement debt market. Maheshwari was the principal financial officer for the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank's lender for private sector projects in developing countries.

RBC Dain Rauscher promoted Vincent Boberski to director of fixed income research and strategies, while Piper Jaffray promoted Jess Pichel to senior research analyst in electronics and technology. Pichel was previously a vice president and senior research analyst with Needham & Company.

Citigroup hired two executives from technology group BearingPoint Inc. to its back office division. Terry Ford will head up sales, marketing and business development at the global transaction services unit, which is responsible for securities custody and hedge fund administration services. Jay Nussbaum will be the unit's chief operating officer.

Lisa Beeson joined Wachovia Securities as a managing director for mergers and acquisitions. She was previously a managing director in the same field at Morgan Stanley.
