Fund managers and equity derivatives specialists were on the move in Europe last week.
Morley Fund Management said goodbye to six senior executives following a review by Katherine Garrett-Cox, its new head of investment. The people leaving include: Mike Bishop, a UK equities veteran, and Martin Ekers, its head of dealing.
Morley is also cutting its coverage of European smaller companies and dropping Sophie Blanpain, head of equity research, and small cap researchers Simon Turner, Camilla Macun and Julian Murray. However, Morley wasn't only pruning jobs: it hired Lloyd Whitworth from JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management as a pan-European fund manager.
New Star Asset Management hired Ian Lewis from UBS Global Asset Management as head of UK institutional sales and marketing.
UBS Global Asset Management also lost Fredrik Langley from its Scandinavian client service department. Langley joined SG Corporate and Investment Bank as an executive director, working with Scandinavian institutional investors in the equity derivatives team.

Barclays Capital strengthened its European leveraged finance business with two hires. Chris Turner joined as head of European high yield capital markets and syndicate from Merrill Lynch in New York.
Tim Taylor joined as head of European leveraged loans from Deutsche Bank. Both will be based in London.
There were two unexpected departures. Jim Reid, an award-winning head of UK credit strategy at Barclays Capital, quit the bank. Barclays declined to comment on the reason for his departure.
Meanwhile in France, Laurent Cadieu, deputy head of equities at Exane BNP Paribas, the joint venture between Exane and BNP Paribas, announced he was returning to BNP Paribas after just two months.
HSBC hired in research. Robert Vaudry joins from Morgan Stanley to head global companies and sectors research. Philip Poole joined from ING as global head of emerging markets research and chief global markets economist.
