Lazard - graduate training programme

The bank has supplied the following information:

Which divisions of the bank hire graduates?

Capital Markets and Investment Banking/Corporate Finance (IB/CF).

How is the intake of trainees typically split between each area (eg. 50% corporate finance, 20% sales and trading etc.)?

90% in IB/CF, 10% in Capital Markets.

Are there any divisions which are likely to hire graduates in 2004, but which didn't hire graduates in 2003 (eg. HR)?

No.

How much are graduates paid during training? Do you provide free housing and other perks?

Same as their salary once they are in the business. No difference in salary or benefits. Accomodation is paid for all residential training.

How long does it take someone to complete your training programme?

Three months.

Do you guarantee a job upon completion of the programme? Alternatively, are graduates hired on a renewable two year contract?

Graduates are offered permanent jobs from day one (i.e. before training). No two-year contracts, simply a standard probation period.

Where does training take place?

Residential conference centre in Kent in England, training facilities in London and Paris.

What kind of specialist training is offered for each division, e.g. trading, corporate finance, and so on?

All relevant technical and regulatory exams programmes.

How many hours a day does training last? Will trainees be expected to work or study after hours at home?

All day training - there is no requirement to return to work until after training, as all the training is completed before the individual joins their departments.

Can trainees move between departments during training?

No.

How should graduates apply?
