Which divisions of the bank hire graduates?

Investment Banking typically takes 40% of the intake, while IT takes 20%. The other two areas, Equity and Fixed Income, take 40% between them.

Are there any divisions which are likely to hire graduates in 2005, but which are not hiring e graduates in 2004?

We may be taking full time hires into non-IT areas of FA&O (Finance/Administration & Operations) next year.

How much are graduates paid during training? Do you provide subsidized housing and other perks?

We are competitive with the market.

How long does it take to complete the training programme?

It varies by division, but from 5 weeks to 10 weeks.

Do you guarantee a job upon completion of the programme? Alternatively, are graduates hired on a renewable contract, eg for two years?

Yes, graduates are guaranteed a job on completion of the programme.

Where does training take place?

Varies on division. Securities trains in New York, IBD and IT training in London.

What kind of specialist training is offered for each division, e.g. trading, corporate finance, and so on?

The training programmes are very intense and thorough. They are trained on modeling, bond math, accounting, soft skills, etc.

How many hours a day does training last? Will trainees be expected to work or study after hours at home?

Training lasts from 9.00am - 5.00pm. Trainees are then expected to spend time with their groups or desks.

Can trainees move between departments?

No

What if a graduate trainee wants to do an MBA or MSc in a few years' time? Might the bank provide sponsorship?

No
