Vodafone in $35bn fight for AT&T Wireless
Vodafone and its US rival, Cingular Wireless, have been asked to go to a second round of bidding, raising the stakes in the AT&T auction. Vodafone is understood to have initially offered $12.50 to $13 a share. It hopes to use AT&T Wireless to develop its own US network.
The AT&T Wireless board was meeting Sunday night to consider the bids. Vodafone refused to comment.
