Mantis hires from Alexander Mann
Blair joins from the rival search firm Alexander Mann, where he covered the same sector.
Ben Dear, a director of Mantis, said the firm plans to double in size in 2004. It currently employs seven people covering equity derivatives, securities lending, prime broking, cash equities and IT.
New staff are needed to cover growth areas including foreign exchange, corporate finance, securitisation and cash fixed income, said Dear. 'Markets have started picking up. We've got a lot of demand and need more people,' he said.
Dear and Nick Kerrison, a co-director, formed Mantis last year by buying out Cresta Resources, the recruitment arm of the Cresta Group, an IT testing consultancy.
