Cazenove - graduate training programme

Traineeships are offered in Corporate Finance, Sales and Trading, Equity Research and Fund Management.

The bank has also supplied the following information:

How much are graduates paid during training? Do you provide free housing and other perks?

Salaries are at competitive rates.

How long does the training programme last?

The programmes start in September and run until February.

Which subjects are covered by the basic training?

Technical skills (accounting, valuation techniques, economics), as well as professional exam-based and personal skills training.

Are graduates trained in mathematical principles? What happens if they haven't studied maths for some years?

The initial training takes into account different degree disciplines. We accept graduates with any degree discipline.

What kind of specialist training is offered for each division, e.g. trading, corporate finance, and so on?

On-the-job training as well as relevant professional exams such as CFA and Securities Institute diploma.

Are there opportunities to learn additional languages?

Yes.

How many hours a day does training last? Will trainees be expected to work or study after hours at home?

Typically a seven-hour day with additional home study and pre-reading.

Can trainees move between departments?

Yes. The generalist programme is designed with this in mind. The aim of this programme is to introduce graduates to all areas of the business before deciding where to specialise. At the end of the short business rotations, graduates will have a better idea where their skills are best suited.

What if a graduate trainee wants to do an MBA or MSc in a few years' time? Might the bank provide sponsorship?

Requests are treated on a case by case basis.
