Approximate number of positions in Europe 2003:

155 across all business areas. Most positions are in London, with a limited number in Frankfurt, Paris and Milan for candidates with relevant language skills.

Minimum academics:

The bank says academic credentials are important but need to be coupled with excellent communication skills, creativity, perseverance and tenacity. It is looking for graduates that can make a difference to what it does from different backgrounds - with a range of perspectives, experiences and skills - to reflect the depth and breadth of its client base.

by February 13, 2004; however the bank encourages early applications as it starts reviewing them in December 2003.

Training offered during internship:

Classroom-based training is provided during the first week which includes an introduction to banking and UBS's clients and products. The summer program is a broad learning experience combining education and training with important social and networking events.

Methods of assessment (ie. formal examination, presentation etc.):

Evaluation is an important element of the programme. It consists of a mid-term evaluation, specific projects (which are presented to managers/peers) and in the final week, a round-up discussion providing a comprehensive assessment of your experience.

About 2250 per month
