Fleming and Schroder head UK bankers' rich list

Robert Fleming and his family, who made most of their fortune when their merchant bank was taken over by Chase Manhattan at the peak of the bull market in 2000, are down from 9th last year to 19=, with an estimated 1.05bn.

Bruno Schroder and family, who control the fund manager Schroders, fall from 12th place in 2002 to 24th in the list of the UK's richest people.

Goldman Sachs bankers stand out in the list, including former partner Peter Sutherland at 251= and Richard Sharp at 313=.

Michael Sherwood, at the age of 37, is at 309= with 103m. In December he was appointed to the bank's global management committee, just one step below board level.

Among the 100 richest women is financial services headhunter Philippa Rose, a new entry with an estimated 20m. She joins fund manager Nicola Horlick in 93= place.
