Banks target women IT undergraduates

Under the Technology Chances programme, the students are visiting two banks in London on the 4-5th December and the 9-10th December 2002. Some are put up in hotels overnight.

One hundred and twenty second- and third-year female students will meet graduate recruiters and women already working in banks' IT departments.

Sponsors include Citigroup, Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs International, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank of Scotland and UBS.

Mark Blythe, joint managing director of the graduate publisher GTI, which organised the event, said many women still associated IT careers with 'techies'. Relationship building and communication skills were equally important, he said.
