eFinancialNews scoops best business site award

The judges said www.efinancialnews.com was "way ahead in proving the online magazine subscription model and has achieved a very broad reach without being 'cannibalistic'.

The statistic that, out of 28,000 subscriptions, 23,000 are new demonstrates this."

At the awards ceremony in London on Wednesday night, the judges also said the website "has demonstrated quality and consistency of content, news and views".

The UK Association of Online Publishers (AOP) is a dedicated service for online content providers, which aims to "drive standards and revenue across all sectors of online publishing" as well as raising the credibility and profile of the industry.

Also on the shortlist for the award were brandrepublic.com, from Haymarket Business Publications; meed.com and totaltele.com from Emap Business International; Estates Gazette Interactive; www.rati.com from Air Transport Intelligence; and tesjobs.co.uk, the TSL Education site from News International.

AOP said efinancialnews.com "has been one of the most successful sites in Europe in making the transition to a paid-for service" and "in a very tough, discriminating market, has firmly established itself as a key source of news and information about the industry".

The panel of 19 judges represented a wide range of eFinancialNews' publishing peers, including Condé Nast Publications, Haymarket Business Publications, Emap Business International, Granada Media Interactive and VNU Business Publications.

www.efinancialnews.com is the daily online service of its sister publication, the weekly newspaper Financial News. efinancialcareers.com is part of the Financial News group.
