Banks sponsor African and Caribbean graduate careers fair

Both JP Morgan and UBS Warburg have paid 15,000 to be 'champion sponsors' at the fair to be held in London in November for financial services and other industries.

Each bank will get a large stand for its money, as well as advertising and the opportunity to host a seminar. UBS Warburg will explain how to make an effective online job application. JP Morgan will give some 'case studies' of investment bankers.

This is the first year that UBS Warburg has sponsored the careers fair. Stephanie Allwood, a diversity recruiter at the bank, said it remained committed to widening the talent pool: 'It is vital that we continue to hire the most talented people - whatever the market conditions.'

Goldman Sachs, a 'champion' sponsor in 2000 and 2001, is also taking part, though it has halved its payment this year. Some other former 'champions' will not be represented. The ACFF said some banks cited cost-cutting as the reason.
