Sheffield Haworth bolsters legal and hedge fund search

Levy, a former corporate and commercial lawyer, will work in London alongside Siobhan Lewington, another former lawyer, whose appointment in May marked the opening of Sheffield Haworth's legal practice.

Tim Sheffield, chief executive of Sheffield Haworth, said Levy's appointment reflected strong demand for lawyers to work in financial services.

The firm has also appointed Raj Sitlani, divisional director for equity derivatives team, as head of a new hedge fund operation that will focus entirely on alternative investment positions, as well related areas such as prime brokerage.

'We have already worked on behalf of hedge funds, but from now on it will be a core area,' said Sitlani.

He said demand was coming from four main sources: former proprietary traders who are setting up hedge funds; hedge funds backed by investment banks; alternative investment divisions of traditional asset managers; and US hedge funds that are moving into Europe.
