Mort and Goodall launch new boutique
At Principal Search, Mort specialised in structured credit, derivatives, high yield and securitisation. Goodall's area of focus at Blackwood was equity research.
Mort says The Omerta Group is already working with long-established clients, following an amicable exit agreement with Principal. He said the timing of the establishment of yet another boutique in current market conditions was not a problem: "We have found that with good relationships and strong individual track records, there are still a lot of mandates to be worked on."
The Omerta Group focuses on pan-European fixed income sales, trading structuring, origination and research. It specialises in credit derivatives and securitisation, principal finance and real estate, structured products and hybrid capital. From an equity perspective it operates in ECM, sales, sales trading and research for both cash and equity-linked products.
Mort's departure from Principal Search coincided with that of consultants Mike Hindley and David Burland and researcher Sarah Egan. Hindley specialises in structured credit and Burland in equities. Sources close to them suggest that these two will also soon be on board.
