London Business School launches hedge fund course

The London Business School is launching a two-day intensive course on hedge funds for financial services professionals.

Called 'Hedge Funds: Inside the Black Box', the course will use real-life case studies to give participants &quotknowledge and frameworks needed to address the key issues concerning hedge funds.&quot

Janet Dobson, director of finance programmes at the London Business School, said the course was designed for experienced financial services professionals with a vested interest in the subject.

This includes fund managers who are wondering whether to invest in hedge funds and private bankers who want to give advice to clients.

Anyone hoping to use the course as a short cut to a career in this lucrative area is likely to be disappointed. &quotYou can't make a career switch in two days,&quot warned Dobson.

The course is to take place twice a year (9-10 July and 24-25 October 2002) and will cost 2,750. It will be run as part of the London Business School's Centre for Hedge Fund Research and Education, which was set up in September 2001.

Rapid growth in the European hedge fund sector means Dobson expects at least 40 people to join the course in July. &quotIt's a very topical area,&quot she says.
