Heidrick hires human resources specialist
Johnson was one of the major billers at rival TMP Worldwide Executive Search.
He will build up an HR practice for Heidrick & Struggles out of its Denver office, a spokesman for the company said.
Hiring Johnson is something of a coup for Heidrick, which has held discussions with him before.
Both Heidrick and TMP Worldwide Executive Search have been hit hard by weak recruitment markets over the last 18 months, and Heidrick has recently seen the departure of several senior figures in Europe.
