Edward Clark, the managing partner, said: "We are not put off by market conditions. The cycle changes eventually. We are a small firm, we do not have a big cost base and when an opportunity comes along we are able to grasp it."
The firm has appointed Robert Dix to head its New York operations. Dix has in the past worked as a banker for Chase Manhattan and as a headhunter for Russell Reynolds.
Clark founded the Tallis Group in 1994. It currently has two offices in London, one in the City and one in the West End.
