Jersey hires Mills as chief executive

He replaces Colin Powell, who, as chief adviser to Jersey's government, shaped the growth of the island's 230bn (€347bn) finance industry over the last 25 years. Mills spent three years in the prime minister's policy unit at 10 Downing Street, advising on education, local government and EC matters. Trevor Cook, 51, has been appointed to the board of Brown, Shipley & Co, the specialist investment and private bank for growing companies and their owners. Cooke previously held a management position at Albert E Sharp and Capel-Cure Sharp. He will now be responsible for running BS & Co's investment management and stockbroking activities, including those in the London office of Henry Cooke, a stockbroking, fund management, institutional sales and research outfit acquired by BS & Co in March.
