A large and complex enterprise organisation is undertaking a significant uplift of its Data Governance and Information Management capability. As part of a broader enterprise data strategy, the organisation is strengthening information governance practices, improving visibility and accountability of information assets, and enhancing compliance with information management, privacy and security obligations. Your new role
As a Senior Data Governance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of enterprise-wide information and data governance initiatives. Working closely with business stakeholders, data owners, data custodians and data stewards, you will help improve governance maturity, strengthen information asset management practices and embed governance-by-design principles across the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the uplift, maintenance and governance of Information Asset Registers and Critical Data Asset Registers.
- Supporting the implementation and operationalisation of enterprise metadata catalogues and data governance platforms.
- Establishing metadata standards, business glossaries and stewardship frameworks.
- Facilitating the identification, classification and stewardship of information assets.
- Developing and maintaining governance policies, standards, procedures and operating models.
- Supporting governance assurance activities including compliance reporting, maturity assessments, attestations and audit requirements.
- Managing governance processes related to information sharing, data requests and data sharing agreements.
- Delivering governance awareness, stakeholder engagement and data literacy initiatives.
- Supporting governance committees, reporting processes and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborating with information management, privacy, records management and cyber security teams to ensure governance obligations are met.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining enterprise data governance and information management frameworks.
- Proven experience managing Information Asset Registers, metadata repositories and enterprise data catalogue solutions.
- Experience establishing metadata standards, business glossaries and stewardship models.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise governance tooling such as Microsoft Purview or similar metadata management platforms.
- Strong knowledge of information classification, privacy, security and information management obligations.
- Experience supporting Data Owner, Data Custodian and Data Steward accountability models.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence governance adoption across business functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering governance awareness and organisational capability uplift initiatives.
- Experience partnering with records management, privacy, risk and cyber security stakeholders.
- Qualifications or equivalent experience in Data Governance, Information Management, Data Management or a related discipline.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
