Join a large, complex organisation looking to strengthen its cyber security operations capability on an initial up to 12-month contract based in Brisbane CBD. This is a hands-on senior role with a strong focus on security monitoring, incident response, threat hunting and continuous improvement across a diverse enterprise technology environment. Working as part of an established cyber security function, you'll investigate and respond to security events, help improve detection and monitoring capability, and provide technical guidance across a broad range of security technologies. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor other analysts and contribute to the continued uplift of operational cyber processes and tooling.
Your new role As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will:

• Investigate and respond to cyber security alerts, incidents and emerging threats
• Lead technical incident response across triage, containment, recovery and post-incident review
• Conduct investigations across cloud, endpoint, identity, network and broader enterprise environments
• Undertake proactive threat hunting and use threat intelligence to identify potential risks
• Enhance security monitoring through detection rules, use cases and alert tuning
• Contribute to vulnerability management, information protection and insider risk initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate security operations processes
• Develop playbooks, procedures and other operational security documentation
• Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and support the development of junior analysts
• Participate in on-call and after-hours response arrangements where required

What you'll need to succeedYou'll bring strong hands-on experience in cyber security operations within a complex enterprise environment, ideally across areas such as:

• Security incident investigation and response
• SIEM, EDR and security monitoring technologies
• Threat hunting and threat intelligence
• Cloud, identity, endpoint and network security
• Vulnerability management and remediation
• Detection engineering, alert tuning and security use cases
• Security operations process improvement and automation
• Strong stakeholder communication and technical documentation skills
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other security analysts
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Cloud or Microsoft Purview would be highly regarded.
• Exposure to Elastic Security, Rapid7, Essential Eight, NIST CSF or ISO 27001 would also be beneficial.
• A Criminal History Check is a mandatory requirement for the engagement.
