London's hottest new hedge fund is sucking-up quants and engineers
In the past two months, BlueCove has recruited a systems engineer, a senior software engineer, two quant researchers, a head of UX and an infrastructure engineer. Some, but not all, were working in finance already.
The two quant researchers, Szevak Nzsdejan and Jan Danilo Ahmerkamp, came from Schroders and OxFORD Asset Management, respectively.
The systems engineer, Liam Falconer, came from electronic FX trading platform LMAX Exchange.
The senior software engineer, Nikolay Metchev, came from Percentile, a capital markets technology platform.
The head of UX, Rohit Mistry, spent the last three years at quant fund Winton.
And the infrastructure platform engineer, Aron Neagu, was last seen working as a senior cloud engineer at Sainsbury's supermarket (although he was only there for two months). Prior to that he spent nearly two years at Wowcher, a Groupon-style site that provides discount vouchers.
While you probably need finance experience to work at BlueCove, therefore, it may not be mandatory.
BlueCove describes itself as a 'scientific' fixed income firm that hires people who are 'persistently curious' and 'cognitively diverse' whilst sharing the same values. It now has nearly 40 employees listed on its site.
