JPMorgan & Morgan Stanley are adding key Frankfurt staff before Brexit

As significant business appointments go, dedicated communications professionals may not be top of the list, but when you're a publicly listed bank, media-relations staff play a signficant role. - If only to stop journalists writing things that are wrong or too raw. For this reason, the appointment of media relations staff at U.S. banks in Frankfurt is of note.

In the past few weeks both JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley have named dedicated Frankfurt-based media-relations professionals.  JPMorgan appointed Kate Haywood in a new role as head of Communications for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Morgan Stanley appointed Andrea Amereller as its German spokeswoman.

Haywood is moving from London, where she's been working for JPMorgan's media relations team for more than eight years. Amereller previously worked for JPMorgan (but in a more junior position).

The moves indicate that banks are getting their people in order before 29 March. 

Morgan Stanley plans to locate its sales and trading business in Frankfurt after Brexit. JPMorgan is expected to locate trading activities in Paris and Frankfurt.
