20 non-stressful London banking jobs which pay £100k+
Which London-based banking jobs will pay you a six-figure salary without rendering you inert after working 80-hour weeks?
To the extent that any job paying £100k or more is 'stress free', recruitment firm Robert Walters' new 2016 salary survey helps point you in the right direction. We've listed the top 20 banking infrastructure jobs (technology and risk roles excepted) from it below.
If you look closely, you'll see a pattern emerging. Some of the top salaries in banking infrastructure jobs are currently paid to project managers - which is unsurprising when you consider that most European banks are in the midst of serious strategy reviews which involve streamlining their infrastructure teams.
Equally interestingly, you can command a generous salary in London if you work in compensation and benefits. Maybe this is because London banks now have 2016 to put their compensation practices in order before the new, ever-stricter, EU compensation rules come into effect in January 2017?
Lastly, you can earn a fair amount working in monitoring, regulatory reporting and regulatory affairs. This too isn't hugely revelatory when you consider that banks paid some enormous fines for misconduct in 2015, and the regulatory onslaught continues apace.
Admittedly, some of the jobs in the table and chart below don't pay salaries of £100k. However, we've included them on the presumption that the salaries listed will be bumped up to six figures by the addition of a bonus...
Lastly, it's worth pointing out that these figures are the top end of the ranges given by Robert Walters. Not all front office project managers with five years' experience will be earning £150k. This is reserved for the best, and maybe the best don't have easy lives after all.
