New accounting salary survey shows where to make money in finance

Accountants do not earn as much money as bankers. But they still earn a lot. According to the latest salary survey from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) which has 140,000 members around the world (albeit mostly in the UK), there are plenty of qualified accountants who earn six figures, with the average annual basic salary for accountants being an impressive £92.6k ($141k).

The figures below apply only to accountants with the ICAEW's ACA qualification. This is recognised globally (says the ICAEW) and typically takes around four years to complete.
