Alex. Brown Alumni Forming Investment Bank
A group of alumni from Alex. Brown are creating a full-service boutique investment bank modeled after their old company. The firm will be based in Baltimore, and is expected to launch in either late summer or early fall.
The firm is expected to use the name Signal Hill, drawn from Signal Hill Capital, another boutique founded by Brown alumni that is being incorporated into the new effort, according to Investment Dealers Digest.
David DiPietro, a former head of Deutsche Bank's U.S. equities group, is involved in the start-up. The existing Signal Hill's CEO - Scott Wieler - and two of its managing directors - David Dunn and Thomas Johnson - are also Alex. Brown alumni.
