Lehman Brothers Expands Quantitative Strategies

Lehman Brothers has hired Matthew Rothman to spearhead its sell-side quantitative research efforts as the U.S. head of quantitative portfolio strategies and a managing director.

Rothman joins from research firm Sanford Bernstein, where he was a senior quantitative analyst. He also worked in quantitative equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as a senior research analyst and portfolio manager, and at Morgan Stanley as an associate in quantitative equity strategies.

He will be based in New York and report to Ravi Mattu, managing director and global head of equity and fixed income research.

Lehman Brothers is also further pushing its oil and gas and chemical equity research coverage in Asia, with the addition of UBS' Cheng Khoo as a managing director and regional head of oil and gas and chemical research for all of Asia excluding Japan.

At UBS, she was the regional head of oil and gas and chemical sectors for all of Asia excluding Japan.

Khoo will be based in Hong Kong, and report to Hua He, managing director and head of equity and fixed income research for Asia.
