Litigation Paralegal

Kennedys, a global law firm with offices throughout the US, seeks a full-time Paralegal with 3+ years of solid insurance defense litigation experience to join our team in our New York City Office. This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious Paralegal to join a growing, global law firm and prepare cases for trial.




Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare discovery demands and assist with pleadings and discovery responses.

  • Review and summarize medical records and prepare medical chronologies for trial.

  • Prepare discovery motions and assist with dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.

  • E-file pleadings, motions, and trial documents in state and federal courts.

  • Conduct legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other online sources for trial.

  • Review, organize, and summarize discovery materials, medical records, and other relevant documents for trial preparation, including page/line summaries.

  • Prepare and maintain exhibit lists, witness lists, deposition designations, and trial subpoenas.

  • Coordinate fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.

  • Manage trial exhibits, including organization, labeling, tracking, and admissibility review.

  • Assist in preparing demonstrative exhibits, trial graphics, and evidentiary summaries for use in trial.

  • Support attorneys during trial by maintaining exhibit logs, preparing digests of trial transcripts, tracking admitted evidence, and assisting with real-time document retrieval.

  • Assist in coordinating mock trials, focus groups, mediations, and settlement conferences.

  • Maintain case deadlines and ensure compliance with court scheduling orders and pretrial deadlines.

  • Attend trials and provide in-courtroom support to attorneys throughout proceedings.




Our ideal candidate should have



  • 3+ years of relevant experience [Insurance Defense Litigation]

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal court rules, procedures, and filing requirements.

  • Proficiency with LexisNexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, PowerPDF, IManage, records collection vendors and litigation support software.

  • Thorough working knowledge of and experience working the Federal and New York court system, including PACER, NYSCEF, E-Courts, and eLaw.

  • Experience drafting/posting billable time entries [annual billing requirement is 1400 hours] - Experience with Elite, a plus

  • Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail

  • Must be able to manage large case load and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation and trial environment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • College graduate and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred or relevant years of experience.

  • Ability to work 3 days in Manhattan office/2 days at home



The annualized salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000. However, this is contingent upon level of experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
