About the Role

A growing insurance organization is seeking a Sr. Tax Accountant to support income tax compliance, including the preparation of GAAP and Statutory tax provisions, federal and state tax filings, and various tax planning initiatives. This position reports directly to senior tax leadership and offers exposure to a broad range of corporate and insurance tax functions.

Location

Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of the New York City area.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly and annual GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions.
• Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, tax estimates, and payments.
• Support tax forecasting and modeling activities.
• Prepare monthly tax journal entries and quarterly tax account reconciliations.
• Assist with sales and use tax compliance and other indirect tax reporting requirements.
• Maintain and monitor tax compliance calendars to ensure timely filings.
• Analyze financial data and prepare supporting documentation for tax projects.
• Assist with tax audits, notices, and regulatory inquiries.
• Partner with finance and business teams on various tax compliance and planning initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies within the tax function.

• 4+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of corporate income tax compliance and reporting.

• CPA and/or Master's degree in Taxation.
• Experience preparing corporate income tax provisions.
• Insurance industry experience.
• Knowledge of statutory tax reporting, including SSAP 101.
• Experience with tax provision software implementations.
