I'm working with a well-established organization seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join their team in Mclean, VA. This role is ideal for someone with experience managing project financials, billing, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking in a project-driven environment. Senior Project Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project billing activity in accordance with contract terms and project requirements.
- Track project budgets, commitments, and costs while processing vendor and subcontractor invoices and assisting with customer invoicing.
- Work closely with project leadership and cross-functional teams to monitor project financial performance and support decision-making.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide financial insights on project status and progress.
- Develop monthly financial forecasts, estimates, and reporting packages, identifying potential financial risks and opportunities.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed to support business objectives.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior accounting team members.
Senior Project Accounting Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of project accounting, construction accounting, or similar experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale projects in industries such as construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, project costing, budgeting, and revenue recognition.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and mentor junior staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex financial issues.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while adapting to changing business needs.
