Description
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated Semi-Senior Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their technical knowledge, client management skills and career within a specialist sector-focused practice.
The Role
The Semi-Senior Accountant will support managers, senior accountants and partners in delivering a high-quality service to a portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accounts, tax returns and management information, whilst developing strong client relationships and progressing towards managing their own portfolio.
This role would suit an individual who is studying towards a professional qualification or is AAT qualified and looking to continue their development within practice.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Preparation
• Preparation of working papers and supporting schedules for:
o Limited companies
o Partnerships
• Assisting in the preparation of draft statutory accounts.
• Completion of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting senior staff with complex accounting assignments.
• Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
Management Accounts
• Preparation of quarterly management accounts.
• Analysis of financial results and key performance indicators.
• Assisting with forecasting and budgeting assignments.
• Producing reports for client review meetings.
Tax Compliance
• Preparation of draft Corporation Tax returns for review.
• Preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for review.
• Preparation and review of monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
• Supporting tax planning projects where appropriate.
• Liaising with HMRC regarding routine client matters.
Cloud Accounting & Bookkeeping
• Reviewing bookkeeping records prepared by junior team.
• Follow up on missing information for mo
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• AAT qualified, AAT part-qualified, ACCA student or ACA student.
• Minimum 2-4 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing accounts for small and medium-sized businesses.
• Experience preparing Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns.
• Exposure to client-facing work.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Desirable
• ACCA or ACA part-qualified.
• Experience working with pharmacy, healthcare or regulated-sector clients.
• Experience supporting a client portfolio.
• Experience of reviewing bookkeeping work completed by clients.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate should have practical experience with some or all of the following:

• CCH Personal Tax
• CCH Corporation Tax
