CassonX are delighted to be recruiting for a senior leadership opportunity with a global leader in fund services. As a result of significant new business wins and the onboarding of a substantial number of new funds, the business is experiencing strong growth and is expanding its headcount. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established global organisation and play a key leadership role in the continued growth and development of its UK Depositary business. The successful individual will have genuine influence over the strategic direction of the function, while helping to shape and enhance the service offering as the business continues to grow.

This is a senior management position within the Depositary function, suited to someone who has built a significant career within the Hedge Fund, Private Equity, Real Estate or wider Alternative Fund industry and has extensive experience managing operational teams within a regulated environment. You will need a strong understanding of complex fund and asset structures, particularly across Private Equity and Real Estate, alongside expert knowledge of the regulatory requirements governing the Depositary business. Given the seniority of the position, you will ideally have 15+ years’ fund industry experience, including at least 6+ years within senior management.

The successful individual will take ownership of the control environment across the Depositary business, ensuring the team consistently fulfils its regulatory and operational obligations to the highest standards. You will oversee teams responsible for NAV reviews, cash flow monitoring, safekeeping of assets, whilst ensuring appropriate controls, procedures and escalation processes are firmly embedded. This is also a highly visible stakeholder role, requiring someone who is comfortable dealing directly with clients, senior management, Group Compliance, Sales & Marketing and other internal departments. You will play an important role in supporting new business opportunities, resolving complex client queries and ensuring the highest levels of service are maintained.

Alongside the day-to-day leadership responsibilities, there is a strong change and project element to the position. You will lead and participate in projects designed to evolve the Depositary business, assess automation opportunities and ensure new processes and technology are appropriate for the UK operation. You will also oversee third-party Depositary and custody providers against agreed SLAs and KPIs, support CASS oversight, contribute to due diligence of sub-custodians and participate in regulatory and on-site inspections.

To be considered, you must have extensive senior management experience within fund services, with a a detailed understanding of Depositary requirements. They would consider someone coming from the Alternatives "client side" highly familiar with Depositary services. You will need to be an exceptional people manager and communicator, commercially minded but highly risk aware, with a proven ability to make sensible decisions in a challenging and heavily regulated environment.
