GLOBAL COMPLIANCE AT GOLDMAN SACHS



At Goldman Sachs, the mandate of Global Compliance is to prevent, detect and mitigate compliance, regulatory, and reputational risk across the firm and help to strengthen the firm's culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes this mandate through the firm's enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm's second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm's compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm's responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. Compliance provides advice on how to conduct the firm's business in a manner that complies with the vast array of rules, regulations and regulatory expectations around the globe. Importantly, Compliance plays a key role in reviewing and effectively challenging transactions presenting compliance or reputational risks.




BUSINESS UNIT AND ROLE OVERVIEW



As part of the Consumer Compliance team, you will provide compliance support and coverage to the Retail Savings / Deposits business. You will also participate in region-wide and global initiatives to enact the Global Compliance mandate and Business Unit priorities.




ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES



To fulfil this role you will need to:



  • Have consumer regulatory experience on a variety of issues relating to the provision of a savings/deposit proposition, including new business initiatives, customer servicing and communications, and changes to existing product and service offerings.

  • Have experience or understanding of a contact centre, the information generated, and be able to interpret this from a consumer compliance perspective.

  • Be able to assist with a jurisdictional-specific compliance risk management program within a global financial institution, utilising existing enterprise risk management frameworks

  • Be willing to execute daily compliance risk management processes, such as complaint handling, monitoring and testing, management reporting, policy procedure maintenance, and training preparation and administration

  • Have a background / familiarity with depositor protection rules

  • Assist in enforcing a full suite of compliance policies to ensure both the deposits business and its employees operate in a compliant manner

  • Assist in ensuring adherence to UK and EU regulations, including implementation of new regulations and regulatory change management

  • Liaise with other Compliance Officers in the Goldman Sachs Compliance Division globally as well as other stakeholders throughout the firm to ensure adherence to firmwide compliance standards




QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS



A strong candidate for this role will satisfy the following criteria:



  • 2-5 years of work experience as a Compliance Officer preferably focused on retail banking consumer protection regulations excluding AML/Financial Crime.

  • Understanding of the different regulatory requirements during the lifecycle of consumer products (e.g. product and service design through to implementation, ongoing customer support and marketing)

  • Familiarity with digital customer journeys in financial services

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • Experience in supporting regulatory audits or inquiries

  • Clear, concise communications skills; able to communicate with impact at senior levels

  • Able and willing to challenge; comfortable with inter-personal conflict; able to build strong professional rapport with stakeholders while maintaining independence as a compliance professional

  • Work independently. Exercise sound judgment, ethics and integrity

  • Fast learner; able to adapt to business and regulatory changes; able to challenge status quo and find new solutions

  • Well organised with the ability to manage both longer term projects and daily, often time-sensitive, escalations

  • Good analytical, technical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement

  • Take ownership of tasks, progress them independently, and escalate to senior stakeholders when required
