The Commodity trading desk is providing commodity hedges and risk management solutions. The desk covers a wide product range, covering Energy, Base and Precious Metals and Agriculture. The role seeks a Commodity trader with specifically strong experience in Oil, Oil products and Metals. The candidate’s primary focus would be to: - Manage and leverage customer flow to deliver the assigned budget; - Enhance the Commodity desk capabilities and help growing the Commodity franchise; - Support distribution avenues to enhance the flow business.


  • Price, Execute and Risk manage the client flow;
  • Natural drive to grow, develop and improve the business;
  • Manage risk position of the desk within the applicable limits and desk risk tolerance and monitor the risks in the global commodity book;
  • Be accountable for the risk levels and limits set by desk head and be responsible for adding revenue streams to Commodities;
  • Have continuous interaction with sales on trading/hedging ideas;
  • Work closely with the sales team creating solutions;
  • Work with other international FAB centers capturing flow and pricing for new additional local customers business;
  • Continually interface with desk head to ensure trading positions are reported daily and the long term requirements of FAB remains the target;
  • Maintain and enhance market counterparty and customer perception of FAB as the number one institution for local banks and corporates to handle their commodity business hedging requirements.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commodity trading with specifically strong experience in Oil, Oil products and Metals;
  • Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms and trading systems;
  • Strong analytic background and eager to learn;
  • Demonstrable track record of managing commodities risk;
  • Promotes and encourages co-operation within the team and its stakeholders. Maintaining an open dialogue between desks;
  • Anticipates customer needs and responds to requirements in a timely and efficient manner. Show's strength in building positive relationships with existing and new clients;
  • Recognizes and demonstrates the ability to exploit new business avenues, generating additional flow for the unit up and beyond his remit;
  • As a strong team player would show the ability to distribute important news to the room/network;
  • Adapts to change and supports any new desk initiatives. Promotes new ways of working and remains of a confident and approachable nature;
  • Has a comprehensive mastery of the key financial and commercial performance indicators of the strategic business unit;
  • Shows great awareness in developing new products that have the potential to increase revenue and keep the bank at the forefront of changes;
  • Participate in the financial analysis conducted on clients and their respective industries/ markets to identify potential opportunities and risks.
