One of the country's largest pension funds has an opening for a Business Systems Analyst who has eFront experience. Full relocation is available.

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for acting as the primary architect for systems to solve business problems using technology. The Business Systems Analyst is tasked with translating business requirements into technical specifications and designing technology solutions to meet those requirements and specifications. The Business Systems Analyst partners with the Business Analysts, other Business Systems Analysts, as well as the Application Developers and Systems Analysts as part of the System Development Lifecyle to design technology solutions. The Business Systems Analyst has deep knowledge of the systems that the firm utilizes to meet its business needs and uses that knowledge to efficiently and effectively help put technology in place to meet business needs. The role proactively learns about new technology that may enable additional business capability or extend automation to an area that previously was not possible. Working with system vendors they understand where products the firm utilizes are going and push vendors to continue to evolve products to meet company needs. Thinking out of the box and being able to consider alternatives will be critical to the success of the position. The role will also provide documentation for and technical guidance to Systems Analysts, Operations, and other staff after solutions are deployed into production.

 

Position Overview

 

Essential activities:

  • Act as the architect/designer for the systems the company utilizes including being an adviser to the business on technology related issues.
  • Lead the effort to design solutions including building technical specifications and source-to-target mapping documents based on business requirements to be utilized by developers or systems analysts to build/configure systems.
  • Help build, evolve, and refine the framework from which to standardize the Business Systems Analyst practice
  • Partner with Operations to research and implement new solutions.
  • Help build business case justifications to support the pursuit of systems designed to meet the needs of the firm.
  • Lead, facilitate, and coordinate solutions design meetings.
  • Work with Technology, Business Owners, and Operations to identify the support needs of a system.
  • Interface with Operations and Technology resources inside and outside of the company to ensure business needs are met.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to perform functional testing of enhancements/changes to systems to validate technical functionality.
  • Identify gaps in systems architecture and design. Make recommendations to business and Technology management about the best way to address these gaps.
  • Continue to mature and evolve knowledge of investment and asset management business practices, both from a textbook and a practical perspective.
  • Understand general and investment industry specific technology trends and forecast future technology shifts.
  • Research new technologies to help drive business capabilities forward and maintain a high degree of awareness of common industry specific trends, products, vendors and services.
  • Work with Technology, Operations, and other company management to provide data on the value of technology to stakeholders and annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with Technology management to help monitor the general health of the application and services portfolio.
  • Take a lead role coordinating activities with systems analysts and developers as they build out the solutions. Provide assistance, facilitate discussions, work through issues, provide guidance, and ensure business needs are being met.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Information Systems, Business Management or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience within the investment management industry with a focus in private equity, hedge funds, or real estate.
  • Must have experience implementing, configuring, and supporting eFront.
  • Knowledge of SQL, IHS Markit EDM, preferred.
  • In depth knowledge creating data interfaces between eFront and other platforms (Custody, ABOR/IBOR).
  • Ability to document and communicate technical knowledge effectively.
  • Ability to envision solutions, communicate those solutions and help form tangible outputs from those conceptual solutions.
  • Ability to interface effectively with investment and administrative staff to observe, interpret and analyze user needs.
  • Communicating complex technology subjects in layman s terms.
  • Detailed familiarity with common investment practices and securities.
  • Interface with management, the PMO and others to negotiate solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to design technology solutions to solve business problems.
