New York Life's primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women's markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.


  • Promote Long Term Care Insurance (LTC), Asset Preserver, and Chronic Care Rider sales through New York Life career agency in specific General Offices (GO).
  • Deliver LTC, AP, and CCR sales training to GO management staff and agents, through group, field and individual development exercises.
  • Provide support and guidance to GO staff and agents to increase LTC sales and attain goals.
  • Increase LTC, AP, and CCR sales in assigned offices to achieve Company sales goals.
  • Act as liaison between agents, Home Office staff and LTC staff.
  • Minimum 70% travel.
  • Provide written reports on a regular basis of field activity.
  • Manage travel and entertainment expenses within budget.
  • Manage or coordinate Special Sales Projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Current Life and Health Insurance License required.
  • Detailed understanding of the LTC industry and market, our products, and that of our competitors is highly desired.
  • Thorough grasp of insurance sales and closing techniques required.
  • Complete understanding of insurance agency systems and protocol required.
  • Insurance industry designations (i.e. CLU, ChFC, CLTC, CASL etc.). strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of four years closely related work experience in the insurance field may be substituted for college degree.
  • At least four years of field experience as an agent, wholesaler, or trainer in the insurance industry required.
