Head of Product Management Operations
Position: Head of Product Management Operations

Location: New York, Charlottesville, London

Grade Level: 14

This role is responsible for providing senior-level direction, management, and innovation for critical Product Management functions and initiatives, and driving greater effectiveness in the implementation of key initiatives across Product Management teams, including towards integration with IHS Markit.

The primary focus will be on those areas that are "core" to how we work across all product managers and generally cross-segment as well as cross-function. This role will work to improve and innovate around Product Management's ability to plan, execute and report on the success of key initiatives. An important goal is to drive greater consistency and improve collaboration across Product and cross-functional groups. This will include ad hoc projects from the CPO.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Drive consistency and optimization of the "how" of Product Management to benefit MI's customers and internal stakeholders
  • GTM Plans - driving improvements in the development, communication, and alignment of GTM plans, with a special focus on collaboration with Commercial Sales & Marketing teams
  • Innovation Programs - Align and coordinate with corporate focus and programming (e.g. MI3) around innovation, patents, etc.
  • Launch Management- work with Product Management, Product Development, & Marketing teams to improve our approach and the effectiveness of product launch approach from the inception of product build through to early stage GTM, including communications/materials for product releases and new product communication/awareness
  • Lean Portfolio Management - working across Product Management teams to support the continued rollout of new processes and tools and collaboration with Commercial teams, coordination/prioritization of projects within Product Management, etc.
  • Software Development: Support the adoption of world-class software development best-practices and ensure the Product Management organization is best positioned to contribute effectively to SAFe/Agile team effectiveness. Collaborate and coordinate with the PMO and Technology Leadership to drive major change programs around software dev best practice
  • PM Metrics - improve focus around product performance metrics and reporting
  • Partnerships - support cross- collaboration on how we work related to partnerships to establish process improvements and efficiencies
  • PM Internal Collaboration - improve the development and sharing of exceptional strategies, initiatives, and programs across PM teams through use of the Hub, monthly reports and expanded PM meetings
  • PM Recognition - provide recommendations and ongoing improvements for a recognition program across product
  • QSR/ABR's - provide recommendations for continued improvements in presentation of QSR/ABR's by segment leads
  • Team Development - work with Segment leads and PMs to identify skill/career development needs and coordinate relevant initiatives. Identify & promote opportunities for Product Managers to increase their visibility across PM teams
  • Competitive Reporting - establish a more effective approach to the collection & dissemination of competitive information for use by Product Management, Sales, Marketing and others
  • Privacy - ensure compliance and ongoing training around privacy policies and practices via privacy by design and coordination with Legal and Privacy corporate functions
  • Drive adoption of Enterprise Initiatives - support product management focus on enterprise initiatives such as risk management, business continuity, etc.
  • Partner with Product Management representation to integration management office (IMO)
  • Support Chief Product Officer through various projects across Product Management and MI
  • Manage global team of 3-5 people
  • Results-oriented aptitude to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to work effectively across teams and foster inclusivity, particularly in a matrixed global organization
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills
  • Be able to quickly diagnose problems and foresee potential challenges
  • Advanced communication skills, both oral and written, across a wide range of audiences
  • Able to quickly identify and understand problems and drive towards effective resolution in an efficient, productive and effective way.
  • Able to quickly build credibility and relationships
  • View of best practices across competitor landscape and other industries
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 12+ years of work experience including operations leadership roles
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
