Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Responsible for providing support to the Firm's critical applications that leverage the Oracle database platform, including ensuring the health, performance and availability of systems in achieving the desired outcomes of those applications, as well as performance tuning and database queries. Provide support for Oracle database standardization programs from design, development and implementation, including security. Install, configure, upgrade and maintain Oracle DBMS environment utilizing Oracle Data Guard / Oracle RAC. Provide production support for Oracle systems and work on building our database infrastructure, such as utilities interfacing with DBMS and Self-service Portal capabilities, globally. Manage various OS and database specific upgrades on the Linux environment. Build automation tools using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual implementation. Enhance existing applications using batch scripting and Perl. Partner and advise application developer clients on instilling best practices and solutions within the applications. Analyze Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and disaster recovery scenarios to ensure critical systems can tolerate failures and have appropriate contingency plans.
Job Requirements: Master's or Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Information & Communication Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Two (2) years of experience with a Master's degree or five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in the job offered or related position. Prior work experience must include two (2) years of experience with a Master's degree or five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor's degree with: designing and supporting mission critical systems; performing trends/gap analysis to provide recommendations to address risk and other core DBA duties, such as maintaining backups, cloning/restoring databases, troubleshooting, or recovering databases from logical and physical corruptions to ensure data integrity; Batch scripting, shell scripting and Perl; SQL and PLSQL including SQL performance and tuning and diagnosing potential performance issues by analyzing Query execution plans; the full Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, design, prioritization, coding, testing, release and support; working with and developing for relational databases; performing applications database support, including database design for highly concurrent applications, replication, stored procedures, and troubleshooting; utilizing a Linux Operating System, including using UNIX commands to analyze, maintain and develop server-size scripts; migrating, upgrading, and setting up Disaster Recovery for Multi-Terabyte Databases in Linux Red Hat environments; partnering with application developers to promote standardized database solutions; applying security controls, including encryption, authentication, and data protection; working across a global team and communicating across regions; and observing patterns, analyzing root cause and suggesting ideas to resolve issues in a development or production environment.
