The Role: Energy and Consulting - Associate Director

The Location: Houston

Energy Transition Strategy and Policy
Emissions, Abatement Technologies and Cost Curves, and Net Zero Roadmaps
Hydrogen
Battery Storage
Renewables and Power Markets
Carbon Capture and Sequestration
Global & Regional Gas Markets Including Liquified Natural Gas
Oil Refining
Crude and product transportation and storage
Crude and products wholesale and retail markets
Refining integration into petrochemicals
Crude oil to chemicals
Biofuels

The Impact: Our consultants are "Power Users" of S&P Global products, capable of conducting a wide range of energy industry workflows at the highest standards of rigor and speed. We provide bespoke research and advisory services, combining deep industry and technical expertise, with top-tier strategy, commercial and investment banking experience. Our Analysts and Consultants network and collaborate with various S&P Global subject matter experts around the world in the planning and delivery of consulting projects, as well as market development activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage consulting project teams for bespoke consulting projects
  • Contributing member of project teams supporting bespoke consulting projects
  • Market and technical modeling for downstream, refining and biofuels
  • Preparation of analysis and reports
  • Develop working knowledge and expertise on topics of interests to the downstream and biofuels industries
What We're Looking For: Candidates should demonstrate keen interest in, and familiarity with, the energy sector, either through relevant post-graduate studies or internship experience (i.e., industry, banking, or consulting), ideally, with a large or leading organization. Successful candidates must also show technical proclivity through either their experience or education.

A bachelor or master's degree (or equivalent) in engineering, economics or finance
Preferable between 5-10 years of relevant work experience in refining and biofuels
Excellent communication and time management skills, including the ability to deliver on firm deadlines
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
An aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment
Refinery modeling experience and familiarity with PIMS
The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, and PPT)
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously
