The Location: Washington D.C., Houston, TX

The Team: The S&P Global Platts global nuclear power team produces news, pricing and data relating to nuclear energy via real-time, daily and weekly publications. The team works globally to bring insight in this form of energy, and the uranium fuel which powers it, to customers across the world.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $46,200 to $95,900. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

  • Produces price assessments in accordance with the Platts methodology
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of methodology
  • Writes original commentaries that explain what is happening in the market
  • Explains how we assessed the market
  • Files news stories if markets are volatile or unusually newsworthy
  • Reports news about supply and demand developments in uranium and electricity, government data, new developments in policies and regulations affecting nuclear generation and uranium mining, trader news, general analysis of price trends, and other relevant topics
  • Provides a good blend of standard news reporting-the breaking news that needs short coverage-with creative "enterprise" reporting that identifies trends and connections exclusive to Platts
  • Maintains and develops existing market sources; finds and nurtures new market sources
  • Attends conferences and events as needed to connect with sources and gather news
What We're Looking For: The global nuclear team seeks a journalist or analyst to take a key role assessing and covering markets for uranium and writing about US nuclear power industry developments. This is an opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a topical area during the transition to low-carbon energy sources. S&P Global Platts is a respected voice that has provided nuclear energy pricing, news, information and insight for decades.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong quantitative skills, previous financial journalism or analytics experience preferred; data analysis skills also preferred
  • Familiarity with AP Style preferred
  • Foreign languages preferred
