The Role:

The Senior Associate Event Planner will create and execute client event activities from concept through execution and evaluate return on investment. The planner will drive the event strategy for the markets bringing creative ideas, suggested venues and proposed content to the market with thought to strategic execution.

The job demands interaction with colleagues on the global events team, bankers and product partners, and senior management so that we can ensure a consistent and distinctive experience for clients which underscore our business strategies. The event team's goals are to help market's increase client business/deepen existing client relationships, create and drive efficiencies for all internal partners and maintain the J.P. Morgan brand standard at all events. High pressured position demands strong communication skills, accuracy, long hours and extensive travel in the region with occasional opportunity outside the region. Data management is an equal part of overall responsibilities.

The South Region markets include Dallas, Ft. Worth, Oklahoma, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte.

The role is located in Dallas, Texas, among a team of 4 that reports to the Vice-President of Events, South Region.

Event planning responsibilities include:

  • Understand business objectives and develop an event strategy that supports business goals
  • Create high-touch events consistent with J.P. Morgan Private Bank brand standards
  • Strong experience in data and budget management, prioritization and operational efficiencies
  • Well versed in South Region venues, particularly in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and New Orleans, and ability to ability to keep a finger on the pulse of what is new in the region
  • Liaise with other J.P. Morgan lines of business, in order to leverage and consolidate ideas, shared resources and cross sell event opportunities
  • Active participant in weekly regional team meetings, budget calls, and multiple banker meetings providing event updates as well as participation on global event team call
  • Confident presentation style and penchant to steer a committee and gain buy-in to keep projects on track and on strategy
  • Synthesize and interpret results of past programs to leverage opportunity to replicate events in other markets tailored to varied audiences
  • Ability to secure and negotiate with event venues and contract vendors as required to execute programs and equitably maximize budget allocations
  • Administrative responsibilities include event calendar management; invoice processing; name badge, menu and place card production; RSVP list management; host tracking; event material production and distribution
  • Business acumen to think strategically and problem solve offering creative solutions
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with prompt and clear responses


  • A minimum of 4 years prior experience in event management related activities
  • Exemplary oral and written communications skills to act as one of three primary contacts with the front office
  • Availability to work late hours and travel throughout the U.S. and potentially globally
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & SharePoint sites
  • Ability and openness to learn internal systems RSVP management, budget and calendaring
  • Prior experience in financial services a plus
