Vice President Corporate Accounting

Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller at Hunt Mortgage Group, the Vice President is a leadership role in the finance organization.
Essential Job Functions

  • Leads the successful execution of full cycle accounting calendars (monthly, quarterly, and year-end), on a timely basis and in accordance with GAAP, setting clear direction, resolving obstacles, and ensuring a high-quality review.
  • Manage month end financial close and timely submission of analytics and commentary to reporting team
  • Participates in financial control oversight relating to financing structures (Joint Ventures, CLO's, and other securitization structures)
  • Partners cross-functionally to understand the business transaction and ensure that transactional activity is complete and coded accurately.
  • Reviews work prepared by staff accountants. Provide guidance on appropriate accounting processes to complete task at hand.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to others concerning accounting procedures and policies.
  • Discusses the impact of significant transactions with senior operating segment management.
  • Reviews general ledger coding for cash entries, accounts payable and wire transfers as needed.
  • Working with and supporting external auditors to ensure all controls are in place and effective; any deficiencies noted are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Maintains effective communication with other departments as basis for ensuring complete and accurate financial information and disclosures.
  • Searches for new and improved ways of conducting financial processes; capitalize on system resources and capabilities; stay current on accounting pronouncements.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. CPA preferred.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or higher in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • 6-10 years progressively responsible experience including
    • Experience with structured securitization vehicles, including Joint Ventures and CLO's
    • Experience in securitization finance/accounting
    • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, derivatives, structured finance transaction analysis and income recognition
    • Public accounting experience preferred; combination "Big 4" and private accounting experience preferred
    • Prior managerial experience preferred: ability to direct and develop staff
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization.
    • Detail oriented, organized and with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interface with multiple levels of management
    • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
    • Demonstrated track record of identifying and implementing process improvements/efficiencies.
